So I am replacing just about everything with the front brakes and almost everything on the back brakes, that is if I can find everything. Luckily autozone had just about everything. But the backing plates for both the back brakes are rusted really bad and really need to be replaced, I have checked autozone, o'reillys, carquest, advancedauto, napa, and a ford dealer and nobody even has them at all. If anyone knows where I can find them you will be my hero! Or if anyone has some for sale that are in good shape I will buy them. Any help or knowledge would be helpful in finding 2 backing plates. Thanks!

ok let me clear some things up.
I know very little about brakes, I'm not doing the work just buying the parts. I'm learning as I go. I was not aware of the meaning of pap, now assuming it means pick and pull. So I was not aware that he would have to do alot of work to get the parts. I thought the $35 was just to cover the part, but thanks to shadetree I now know what the cost includes which is fair, but I think I have the right to question the cost of something if I am not certain. I am glad to see 4 people say that it's a good deal. I am already $200 into this so I didn't want to spend much more, so I have some other people looking for me, so if someone can find them cheaper for me I am going to take it. If nothing cheaper comes up I will be glad to pay $35 per side. I appreciate the reality check but you didn't need to be so rude. Thanks to everyone for your feedback. And like I said I'm learning as I go so go easy on me, this is my first car. I was not trying to get anyone fired up.1993 Ford Festiva (automatic) First car :) No nickname yet :(

You should be able to clean up the ones you have. A wire brush or a small grinding wheel on an electric drill can do wonders as can a hammer and cold chisel. Some phosphoric acid treatment (eg. naval jelly) will convert any remaining iron oxide to iron phosphate. Once cleaned up you can paint them a pretty colour of rust-inhibiting paint. The actual braking surface is on the drum, not the backing plate.Original owner of silver grey carburetted 1989 Festiva. 105k km as of June 2006. 140k km as of June 2021.
