I have been driving my festiva with 13" wheels for a few months now knowing that the speed isnt accurate anymore but I was wondering if there is an easy/cheap way to adjust it for the new wheels. Luckily I know about how far off it is so it doesn't bother me much. Also the needle shakes quite a bit, other than buying a new cluster guage is there a fix for that? Again it doesnt bother me much so I prob wont do anything about it for awhile, but I thought I should find out what would be involved.

Evan93, it sounds like you may need to lubricate your speedometer cable. That can be one of the tell-tale signs of a cable going bad. My Aspire speedo did that, and when I lubed it up, all the problems were gone.In love with a MadScientist!:thumbright:

Ok so today after looking up how best to lubricate my speedometer cable I went for it today. I used a white lithium grease. Good news was that I was able to get it all apart and back together, speedometer still working, unfortunately the needle still shakes. I'm gonna take another go at it tomorrow. Should I be using a lot of grease? I have also heard to use a powder graphite? Any advice or other things to try?1993 Ford Festiva (automatic) First car :) No nickname yet :(

Found a kink in the cable today. Looking for a new one, o'reillys can special order one wont be here for a week or 2 for about $30. Autozone has universial speedometer cable kit for under $10. And none of the nearby junkyards have any festivas. Anyone used the universal kits? Or should I just order a whole new one, from o'reillys?1993 Ford Festiva (automatic) First car :) No nickname yet :(
