Defunct Rear Defroster

It has ceased to defrost, and continues to puzzle me. The light doesn't come on, I checked the ground, no current at the grid, and I checked the fuse panel, strangely I'm not showing any current at that fuse. Everything else is fine. Any ideas?

Pull your fusible links and clean everything.

The rest of the interior fuse box works fine, no other problems, it's only the defrost fuse that doesn't have power, assuming I'm using this multimeter right.

Power to that fuse in "RUN" & "START" only. Key has to be on for power!!!

Key has to be on. Only one side has power without fuse installed. Mine doesn't work either. Haven't investigated.

I had it on ACC... So I had 10 ish volts at the fuse, .05ish with the switch on at the defrost hot side, I'll pull the switch on Monday when I have the day off

It shouldn't be energized by ACC position.

Yea, I got the 10 volts with it in on, but still no dash light or current at the grid

From experience, you'll even have the light on if the ground on the defrost grid isn't plugged in, at least on my car..

Mended, I unplugged the switch and had current through the plug and everything worked with a jumper wire, tested the switch by jumping it from the battery, multimeter said it was good, plugged the switch back in and it worked. No corrosion on the terminals, but I'm happy that everything works now, especially in the season of foggy windows here in the PNW

^ Possible winter storm advisor by friday We've already had our dose of "snowpocalypse" and thankfully the rear defrost melted through that ice like a champ

If there's a lot of ice on the window, you have to scrape it or risk it expanding on the inside and not on the outside... Kaboom, shattered glass and a cold ride to point B.

I turn the car on, then do a quick scrape on all the windows. I usually scrape the back really quick, most of the lines have already melted themselves a good inch wide clear area by then. Then I scrape the windshield.
