    I have a random miss, I haven't had a lot of time to diagnose so i figured i would ask and see what you guys thought. It doesn't seem to be an issue when it's cold and it's not really bad when it's hot. It seems like after i drive it for a couple of minutes (before it gets to operating temp) is when it's the worse. It is also bad when i drive it to school and let it sit til i get out of my first class (about an hour and a half to two hours) so it's cooled down a little bit.

    Any ideas? I have just been so busy i haven't had time to mess with it to much.

    Does it have new wires? Or a basic tune up
    1992 white L, Bp, American racing 13's, stock trans.
    1991 White L, BP/F5MR, protege header, full aspire swap with gr2's, seats, and sway bar, 15" konig's, short throw, escort console.
    1991 blue L, 5 speed.
    1988 red L-plus-all stock.

      Dirty plugs act this way. Condensation in the cap can cause this.
      Carbon blockage on the intake valve and injector pocket can cause
      this. Use the process of elimination that you find easiest first to
      find the cause. More important than pro advise is keep your eyes
      and ears open and use your common sense. You may see a cracked
      vacuum hose for instance. Get after it !

        Throw a set of plugs at it. If it still misses, disconnect and ground one spark plug wire at a time to find the weak cylinder. The weak one will be the one that makes the least difference when disconnected. Might be a stuck valve (when cold) on that cylinder.

          just went through the cylinder head and put new plug and wires on it at the time, that was about 500miles ago(give or take)

            Do the second part of post # 4 to see if it is one cylinder or all.

              What brand of new plug did you use ? Some new plugs are
              not working as well as they should. They don't quite miss
              but the engine is not smooth and the HC is way to high to
              pass emissions.

                    Wipe the wire and cap clean. Common problem.

                      I was thinking these cars had a problem with oil leaking into the distributor, so i figured i would see if that causes issues like i have. Idk what plugs are in it, my brother put them in, i just got the car off of him after he hit a bridge with it. I'll check them later. just need to get a break in my schedule to actually look at it.

                        they do and it does, though typicaly, when it gets to that point, you loose all spark, and it happens when the engine is warm (oil overheats the ICM and covers the pickup).
                        Trees aren't kind to me...
