More problems. Check engine

Changed oil pan gasket. Had to take part of exhaust off. Everything back together now it's smoking out the tail pipe and check engine light is on. What could of gone wrong.

They smoke for a bit because of water vapor.
The electrical stuff all needs plugged back in.

Unplug the battery and if it still lights pull
the code.

Is there a way to read the codes without a code reader?

ground one of the little single wire test connectors by the booster
one is rpm and will make your engine die, the other pulls codes
with the engine off and the key on. read them in your cluster.
the yellow wire I think is the tach one, do the other one.

I've only got one single and one with 3 plugs together.

I reset the system. No check engine light. Autozone or oriellys didn't have tester.
I tried to one plug and grounded it. And the light just goes off.
Guess I'll just see if the light ever comes back on a try it again.
