  • EFI fuel pump

Finally got around to pulling pump on my '92. I would run out of gas with 2 gals still in tank. Also it would take awhile to start when hot. The hot start issue was temporarily fixed by jumping the fuel pump tester. So I am led to believe that the system has a leak between the pump and the tank outlet. It also did not have any residual pressure after running. First thing I noticed was there was no tube or screen. Also the pump just wedged up inside a doughnut seal in the cover assy. No hose clamp or a place to put one. Don't see any parts in tank. Anyone have a pic of the assembly?

Anyone ever seen what I described above? Even if I get a new pump with a hose and clamp it won't work with the sender assembly.

Georgeb, here is a link to a write up I did a few years back with lots of pics. Hope it helps.

Great writeup and pics! Mine has that same arrangement for attaching the pump to the assembly. My manual says it's supposed to have a hose and clamp. I think it is leaking there causing a hot start issue. Also mine is missing the sock which allows it to suck from the bottom of the tank. Mine runs out at 1/8 tank. Thanks.

I'm thinking of getting a new pump with sock. The pics all show the short hose and clamp hookup and not what I have. Can that cone thingy be removed?
