zoom: will check, but the noise is definitely coming fom the passenger side while the transmission is on the drivers side?

BTW while the wheels were off I noticed surface rust on the new bare metal brake calipers I installed last summer, so I cleaned them up with a small wire brush and a rag, and brushed on a coat of rust paint, in situ.

If you're doing shocks; might as well go for Aspire versions. Spring perch on Monroe Aspires is 3/8 inch higher than Festys, and also ought to result in slightly firmer ride. Don't forget the Rio strut mounts to achieve 'poor man's power steering'.

There is already a post this week about struts and shocks and the conniptions you'll have to go through, as a 'salt-belt' resident, to get the back ones off.
