You're supposed to turn the switch off before you replace them.

At least those were the instructions I got with mine when I replaced them on our '95 Windstar.

    1973 F100 longbed - only 22k original miles, 360/auto, disk, PS/PB dealer in dash A/C
    1996 Sonoma X-cab - son's DD
    2002 Grand Prix - daughter's DD
2003 Sport Trac - 180k, 130k on replaced motor with new timing chains - F/S soon.

    2008 Mountaineer - step daughter's DD

The switch was definately off, I lifted the vehicle. I'm kinda spoiled these days. Lol. I wish I had a Ford scanner. That would make my life way easier. It has a random CEL and rough idle, but one problem at a time. I need it to right at correct height first. I'll start tracing wires after work tomarrow. Hopefully its easy to find. (fingers crossed) is there a way to manually power the compressor to make it run before I go get one from the yard just incase?
Im not driving a Festiva because I'm poor. I drive a Festiva because i want to!
