  • AC drive belt pulley

OK guys. I put a new AC clutch on my compressor the car has V belts but the new clutch is a 4 slot serpentine. So I decide I'll just swith the pulleys I've got the idler pulley all ready to go. The issue I am running into is the main drive pulley for the AC the one that goes on the outside and bolts up to the other pulley. I know I can't be the first one to run into this because pretty much all the other clutches and compressors I have seen have been serpentine. So does anyone know where I can get a pulley Oreilly is doing some searching but it looks like there is one for $100 which is super high. If anyone know what vehicle I can pull one from that will fit let me know.

Well I was kind of wondering one would work but I didn't want to go order one without knowing. Can anyone confirm if its what I need?

I'm assuming this is for your '93? Then Aspire pulleys will fit. Just get all the pulleys, ac idler, water pump, and alt.

Yeah its for my '93. I don't need to change all of them over just the one that drives the AC and runs over the idler. Hopefully I can find one.

So you want vbelt for the alt and water pump, and ribbed belt for the Ac and ac belt tensioner? (the one you are calling idler is actually the tensioner) Might be hard to find that crank pulley setup for a '93 (big nose) crank. I think some escorts may have had that, you will need one from a '92 and up. The tensioner setup can be gotten from any aspire that doesn't have power steering (the PS ones use the PS pump to tension the belt).

Yeah thats what I am wanting to do because I don't really have a need to switch it all to ribbed just the AC system. I'm all ready to go except this 1 stupid pulley.

Honestly I think you'd probably have a quicker time of it harvesting the crank pulley and all other pulleys off an Aspire and going to ribbed belts all around. But maybe you'll luck up and find something with a one v/one ribbed crank pulley. Just make sure it has the same bold pattern as your '93 pulley! There are two different types of crank nose on these cars, and while all the pulleys can interchange with the same type crank nose, they WILL NOT interchange between types.
