  • shocks or struts??

okay so my festiva feels like im riding in a wagon getting jostled around every little bump in the road, not to mention all the noise, and unfortunately i live a mile down a not so well maintained dirt road... so heres my question what do i need to replace. ohh 190k miles on body, im assuming its all original suspension. also i like the idea of doing the aspire suspension swap as soon as i can find a reasonably priced one. so idk if i wanna buy new shocks and what not for the festy just to swap it with aspire... what would ya'll recomend me doing?

I am in the process of doing this right now, Aspire rear struts with cut Festiva front springs. I gotta wait till Sunday to cut the bottom of the old struts off since my lower bolts are frozen solid inside the sleeve. Will take pics and do a how to just for fun.

k so i went to order em at the store and they told me they were the exact same as the ones that fit on the festiva. same part number and all. so i looked online and found many different to choose from, just the strut, sensa track, with the cushion and boot...etc could someone please link me what i'll need to replace all the way around.

I have Aspire Monroe shocks front and back on one of my Festys. You won't regret this if/when you go to taller tires since the spring perch is 3/8 inch higher. I can't honestly say they're any different from Festy shocks otherwise. If you can find springs in your neck of the woods you can fit Aspires front and back (they are different) or even some Kia Rios on the front. But there may be some coil cutting involved to get the height right. Just to let you know I am very much impressed with 00-02 Rio (which have bearings in them) front strut mounts. Poor man's power steering!

There are numerous metal washers and rubber sleeves, covers and plates to be had but typically they are scavenge-able from all the removed shocks and springs and parts you will have accumulated by that time.

With all that stuff already in place, swapping over to Aspire brakes and suspension sometime down the road will then be a breeze. Of course in order to find Aspire springs you have to find an Aspire and once you do that you may as well grab all the other stuff too! (front sway bar/hubs/rear trailing arm)

                      Good luck.

I just went to Pep-Boys & ordered Monroe rear struts for a 1994 Aspire.

Don't know if this will help. Might be able to get a rebate through the end of May 2012
