  • Need front end toe-in/out alignment specs

After replacing a failing tie rod ball joint, I need to re-set my toe-in/out.

The only thing search turns up is ".02-.26" (which I presume is in inches) but doesn't say whether this is "in" or "out." Haynes doesn't have any toe-in/out specs.

I'm going to do this like I used to do on my Fiat -- precisely cut to length of piece of rod and hold it up at the 3 o'clock and 9 o'clock position of the wheel rims.

    Can somebody tell me:

    1. Should I should have the wheels pointed up to .26" IN or up to .26" OUT?

    2. Is it OK to do the alignment with the front wheels off the ground?

    front alignment specs

This is from the Ford Factory Service manual, front Toe-In mm (in) 0.5-6.5 (0.02-0.26) . If there is anything else i'll try to find it if you want to email me. I could scan in some pages if that'll help.

      toe-in

Thanks! 1/4" toe-IN on 12" wheels seems like a lot. I'll try to hit the middle of that range with about 1/8".
