I have a 91' GL that I recently purchased and the bright lights will not come on. The daytime lights and dim lights do turn on. When I engage the brights, the dim lights stay on. This occurs whether I push the lever forward or backwards. The brights do not come on period. I do not understand electrics too well, but from what I have read on previous threads, it seems like it would be the dimmer switch. However, I thought the dimmer switch only controlled the dash lights. I suspect that previous owners may have improperly rerouted or jury rigged some wires. I already tried replacing the bulbs with new ones, but nothing differed. Suggestions? Thanks in advance.

I would check the Hi/Lo beam parking light switch.
sometime a good cleaning works, other times a replacement is necessary.
Also, may not be the case for you, but I have had a similar issue when the under hood fuse/link marked "Head" is corroded.
Good time to switch from fusible links to cartridge fuses.
And while you're at it, give all the connectors in the that fuse block a good cleaning.'93 Blue 5spd 230K(down for clutch and overall maintanence)
