  • Escort GT and Festiva ignition timing procedures

If we have a BP swapped Festiva, do we use the Festiva or Escort GT timing procedures? I know the EGT we have to ground out the ten plug to set timing, same with an Aspire, but not sure about a Festiva.

Depends on harness used. Festiva has a single wire plug near the master cylinder.
Im not driving a Festiva because I'm poor. I drive a Festiva because i want to!

i just connect vacuum gauge to intake and turn distributor. once gauge is highest, then lock it down.

I can imagine how annoying that would get on a I4 with individual carbs... Sync - set timing - sync - set timing - sync - set timing.

        Drive 100 miles.

Sync - set timing - sync - set timing - sync - set timing. LOL

If you don't ground the plug, you aren't getting it set right. Grounding that plug tells the ECM to set "base timing" without compensating for load etc.
