  • Bumper Covers

I want to remove the front and rear bumper covers.
I started with the rear today and realized that they had covers. more complicatedly is that they had plastic screws, I started trying to take them out. and I stripped some of them.
Do any of you know how to take the cover off - not the actual bumper?
    Thanks

There is a low quality photo of one of the screws - couldn't fit my camera to show the other side.

They are a pain! I just used 2 flat head screw drivers & pried them out.
If it don't fit, use a bigger hammer!

Let me guess … you put on a different bumper cover on so it didn't matter what happened to the original one.

Get a box of new ones in a common easy to use style, then cut those off.

it's easier to remove the entire bumper and then remove the cover once it's off the car. if you're trying to remove the cover while on the car you're only 6 nuts away from removing the entire unit (you have to do this for the rear cover anyway because the top cover retainers are under the cover lip).

You have to unbolt the rear impact bar to take the cover off, it is easier just to unbolt the whole assemblies front and rear to remove the covers like FestYboy said.

No, just pried the plastic PIA screws out that wouldn't unscrew. Reused some & used zip ties on some. And yes you have to remove the bumpers first.

                  Thanks - Ok
Well I was thinking of taking off the entire bumper but I read in my Festiva manual that you must jack up the car and do some complecated things, and I dont want to do such a thing for where the car is located.

No need to jack the car up to unbolt the bumpers... it's simple. Back has 6 nuts, 2 on each side on the interior of the car, 1 on each side visible from underneath the car, all 14mm nuts, then theres 1 phillips on each corner. Front is basically the same deal, easy to do just look it over and you'll see what I'm explaining.

Ok Thanks I will take a look at that - Because (depending on the design) I want to add the metal bumpers and I need to see if it would be better with the original bumper or the bumper taken fully off and I can only do that with the covers off.
