  • Cheap and easy rear strut tower brace idea

I came up with this idea on how to make a cheap and easy to remove rear strut tower brace. I'm not sure if one piece of 3/8 x 3 x however long the space between the strut towers is stiff enough so I thought two pieces bolted together would be plenty stiff. You may get away with using one piece of angle iron to mount the middle portion, but two would be stronger. Perhaps the middle portion could be some square tube, but I don't know where to find a large enough square tube.

Would work, but I prefer the "hammer the ends of a steel pipe flat and weld it to the frame" method. Its less work, more sturdy, and doesn't mess with the frame by drilling holes. You could still make it removable by welding flat 1/8" x 2.5" steel on the towers straight out for 2-3", than drilling 2-3 holes in each and bolting the flattened pipe on.
