  • Oil pan cleaning

Tips, tricks, recommendations? I have a bit of grime build up in the bottom and on the sides of my oil pan's interior, and it's pretty tough. My pressure washer didn't really do anything, so I was thinking about sandblasting it..

What have you had success with? Should I even worry about it? haha

Dawn Power Dissolver, my oil pan is spotless.

Dont sandblast it, it will just be harder to remove, and you'll get sand in your oil pan!

Then you'll get sand in your oil which will carry it into your engine where it will grind away and potentially do much damage. Ordinary kerosene or paint thinner should dissolve the gunk. Cheap and readily available with many other uses.

Mineral spirits is less volatile than gas and less smelly than kerosene. Use a stiff brush, dump it out then pressure wash.

Dawn power dissolver is 3$ a bottle and eliminates any need for scrubbing. Spray-wait-wash. It took a few coats, but its factory fresh.

Sweet tips I totally forgot about the Dawn power dissolver, too. I used that on my valve cover; wow! I considered sand blasting my pan because I have it removed from the engine by itself. I would definitely clean it off before reassembly Thanks guys
