  • Dealer or factory AC

Im going to put an AC system in my car and i found 2 different types.

Just to confirm, this is dealer installed correct? It looks different than any other aircon system i have seen.

The reason i ask is that i want a factory AC.

That doesn't even look dealer installed. It looks more like aftermarket.

Amazing, thank you, 3 of the 4 festivas there had air con, 2 looked the same, one had this mess.

That kind of expansion valve is wasteful but performs really well. Probably should
have been left on the Cadillac. It may have a better condenser and evaporator than the
stock or dealer added cars. If the fittings are the same you can mix and match to get
the best components from each car. Be absolutely certain that the internals are clean.

I pushed the little valve thing and air came out so i assume that they are all still under pressure.

If the system still has pressure it may be okay. If the compressor seizes it will
contaminate the entire system with metal fragments. To check the compressor
for dirty failure turn the compressor clutch hub. If it spins freely then yes, scavenge
                    parts!!
The clutch hub is in front of the belt pulley and should have some resistance but not
spin free like the pulley will just behind the hub.

Got 1 more. Don't know if you can see the drier, its under the intake tube near the VAF.
