  • Steering racks!

I'm at the yard and all the festiva racks are garbage. I noticed there are three manual aspire racks, all look good. Is there a difference in them? They look exactly the same!

    Urgent!

They are the same as long as its a manual rack and not power you should be good to go.

BUT the outer tie rod ends are different from aspire to festiva

Just curious, what is it about them that made you determine they are garbage?

Same question I had in mind.
Just because the boots are shot doesn't mean the rack is bad.
The only festiva I ever bought that had good boots was the one I drove off the Ford lot in 1990.

Inner tyrods are dif ,actually about half inch longer . Correct on the rack they will work and seem to hold up better from my experiance .
New build on the way .

Just about every festiva rack I have found at local yards is worn out ,having excessive up and down play in the rack itself . But for reason it seems the aspire racks have all been in good shape even with same or more miles . Just my 2 cents

Seeing though I'm picking up the rack cause mine is knocking and is missing the boots, I can't justify buying one with the boots missing. Its just my brain stopping myself from wasting a lot of time pulling a rack just to find out its in the same condition as the one thats currently installed, thats all. Its not like I can really test the play. One of them on a festiva actually has good boots, but I got really frustrated with the spinning tie rod ends, I wasn't able to get it off. Plus looking at this brake line repair I was worried about everything else on the car hahaha(the car in junkyard)

Okay so if the inner tie rods are longer, will I be able to use them? like will they be able to do an alignment on it? or do I need the inner tie rods from a festiva.

Not to mention I wonder how long that spring purch will stay attached to the strut.

That brake pro should have put another clamp on the lower hose! Honest mistake, I suppose.

I'd use that fancy colored hose wrap they have at the parts stores though. Looks a lot better that way.

Sorry, too many questions, haha I searched and found my answer. My question was, were the inner tie rods off of an aspire too long to get the wheels properly aligned.

The answer is, yes, they are too long so the outer tie rods will be further from the rack, in turn not allowing the wheel to be properly aligned.

edit: also, did you see how he peeled back the sheet metal to allow the fresh fuel line, I mean brake line, to breathe.
