  • Bp temp sensor :(

Once again relentless (my bp car)has rebeled againsed me I was installing the stock festy temp sensor into it so I could get a the reading I'm supposed to and ..... wouldn't you know it just a few threads in it snapped and is currently stuck in my block. Anyone who knows where this sensor is located knows that it is in a very tight spot and us near impossible to get an easy out in there. sofor now I covered it with jbweld so my questions are

1 how can I get this out?

2 is there Any where i can hook up a temp gauge that will give me an accurate readout?

    -Thanks

Bobby, I've been trying to find this temp sender myself, where exactly is it? On the thermostat housing, there is a temp sender looking thing but when I hooked up my Festy gauge wire (yellow with silver stripe) it would only read max hot or stay at the very bottom, max cool. I'm wondering if this is a fan switch.

The one on the thermostat is the fan switch

If no one from the future stops you from doing it, how bad of a decision can it really be?

Stand straight in front if your car, look down at the thermostat then get your hands in the tight spot underneath it. The little pouring sticking out that you can touch is it. Took me a bit if time to find it to. Basicly its on the front of the block in the little nook under the thermo. hope that helps

When you find it youll understand why its so hard to get to with an easy out our needle nose pliers

Dang it nerd you types it out faster than me! Your post want there when I started typing

And oops. Nerd is correct. Its in the tight spot under the dizzy

Thanks guys, now I can finally have my temp gauge working. Or do I need a resistor in place to work with the Festiva gauge? Sorry for the thread hijack Bobby.

Before I found out about the temp sender location, I was gonna get an aftermarket gauge and use the sending unit it came with to tap into the fan turn on spot. I was gonna remove that connector that screws into the thermostat housing and match it up somehow to work with the aftermarket gauge. I already have my fan wired to a relayed switch so I didn't need that sender. Do you think that would work, I figure its reading coolant temperature to turn on the fan.

Are there throttle body coolant lines hooked up on that engine? that would be an accurate place to "T" into temporarily.
