  • Hub and Strut Interchangeability

Okay, so I just found out one of my Aspire springs I was about to put on my festy (entire strut assembly) is broken. Can I just remove the strut from the aspire and attach the hub and stuff to my stock festy strut assembly? Does that work? Then Ill just swap on new struts or something later.

The reason I ask is because I was going to put the rack that I reconditioned on, but I already bought the ford aspire tie rod ends, so I can't put the rack in without changing the hubs to the aspire one. Make sense?

You can use both Festiva & Aspire springs and struts with either hub assembly.

If you want to stick with Aspire springs, I might have one for you. We'll just have to match it with yours, as my springs are "loose." I have a set of calipers to measure with.

I can't do this till Sunday though.

I have no idea if an Aspire (or Escort) tie rod end will even fit into a Festiva steering knuckle hole.

If you have a broken Aspire front spring and you don't want to wait till Sunday, if I were you I'd put my Festiva stock struts in and exchange them for cut Aspire units later. You might have to do two alignments though.

    Hope that answers your question!

Yes. You can use the Festiva struts and springs. Just change the knuckle/ hub assembly. I run aspire knuckles on mine with Festiva struts and springs.

Last question before I start working, festiva springs will fit in the perches of the aspire strut?

and thanks for the offer Karl! I'm probably going to do most of the work tomorrow though, cause I want to make sure it gets done before next weekend

Yuuup! I am running front Festiva springs in the rear on Aspire struts. I think you can use any 2.5 inch springs on our cars.

ahh yes, 2.5" almost standard, okay thanks, Ill probably just do the knuckles for now. It so weird the one spring was broken, the struts looks really perfect. Its like one spot where water must have been dripping on, or maybe the paint was chipped early in its life.

What's all this stuff about 2.5" springs? Aspires, Festys and Rios have 4 1/8" diameter springs at the front and Festy/Aspire have 3 7/8" diameter springs at the back.
