  • Festy died while driving and wont start

    Hi all,

I was driving and my festy died as soon as i hit the clutch pedal while shifting into 3rd. Here are it's symptoms :

It sounds different when it tries to crank, i wish i could describe how, but it's just off. When the key is in the on position, there is an engine component that is making a constant fast clicking noise that almost sounds like a cooking timer, but i'm not sure what it is. as your looking at the engine from the front of the car with the hood popped, it's located behind the far right fuel injector. It has an electrical connector and many various air hoses connected to it. It's blue around the sides and has a hex nut on top. I'm guessing it's the idle air control valve.

I tried the fuel pump reset button, checked the engine fuse from the interior fuse box, checked the spark plug wires.

The clicking is normal if it is what i think it is and the
timing belt may need replaced, remove the upper
cover and look at your timing belt, you will need a
10mm wrench or socket, again if you are describing
    what I think you are.

I'll check the timing belt. Is it the idle air control valve thats clicking ? I want to clarify that the clicking noise is only barely noticeable when the key is in the on position, not when it's cranking. you can't hear it from the driver's seat, only when your looking under the hood. Before the car died completely, the engine would occasionally hesitate after letting the clutch out and hitting the gas.

Probably the IAC, I took mine off and it doesn't
click anymore. It used to click with the key on
        and the engine off.
