Well, my 89' Carbed four speed car started having a problem a few days ago. I drive 45 minutes to work everyday, and near the end of the drive there or on my way home, when I get on the off ramp and put it in neutral to coast the the stop sign. It has be consistently dying shortly after I put it in neutral, 5 seconds after or so.. starts right back up afterwards and runs fine. Just found it odd and was wondering what would possibly cause that..? Car is running fine otherwise, engine is weak right now since it's got a dead cyl.. rings are shot. But it is getting a better engine swapped this weekend in it.

Maybe the float level is a touch high and dribbles over at that point.
Maybe the o2 is correcting so much for cruise that the carb cannot
respond quick enough to keep the mix right at idle.
Maybe some of the tune adjustments are to far off spec.
Maybe the EGR vent filter is kinda plugged and holding the EGR
on to long.
Maybe an above problem added to something like a bad or missing dashpot.
Maybe it really is so tired that a new engine will fix the problem or cover
up one problem enough that you will be willing to live with it.Reflex paint by Langeman...Lifted...Tow Rig

Possibly fuel filter is going out (getting clogged). The fuel pressure will drop a bit when it goes into neutral, since you don't have your foot on the go-pedal. Replacing the filter is a cheap and easy fix, so I'd try that.
On carbed cars, I always kept a spare fuel filter in the car and the tools to change it out. This has saved me a couple of times, twice on long road trips and far from any city. They do tend to clog far more often than on the FI cars.
