Yea, my stock aspire was very forgiving, I roasted the tires in first through 4-5k and she didn't complain. I literally drove it like I stole it most days, and it still idled and shifted good until I tore her heart out.2008 Kia Rio- new beater

I love my little lambo festiva I have done some pretty funny stuff in it
I saw a smart car parked on the side of the road a old guy was in it with his window down so I slowed right down reved the engine them zoomed off ... There is not many cars I think I could dag and win but I think I could give a smart car a run for it's money

First, I like the title of your thread. :p
Is yours carb or efi? That will help for a dianostic.
Sounds fuel or sensor related so far.Dan

One of mine does this too. I've determined mines from too much blow by and slightly fowls out the plugs. I unhooked the valve cover intake hose and pluged it up. then unplugged the PVC and vent it, but plug the vac.
This helped a lot, no longer sucking blowby down the intake. But it still seeps past the rings and does it. But not as bad.

Printa, i'll throw this out there, it may not be your problem, but this did happen to me:
I have a carb festy, too. When mine started acting up, very similar to what you describe, I couldnt figure it out. It would run fine, then just poop out, flooring it when it was trying to die, would result in it bucking like crazy, if I held it to floor, it would drive some, but die anyway.
Man I was all over everything trying to figure it out. Stranded me a couple times, but would start later and be fine for a while.
Finally, I had someone slightly reving it while I just looked at stuff under the hood. As the engine got warmer, I noticed something moving down by the bottom of the firewall.
It was the fuel line on the fuel filter, kinking and twisting, shutting off the fuel flow.
It was a little 4 inch long hose, that connects to the metal fuel line coming from under the car at bottom of firewall, and connects to the inlet side of the fuel filter. The hose was old, and unlike efi, carbs pull the fuel through the fuel line, creating a suction, which can collapse an old line from the pressure. It was literally sucking the hose shut!
Replaced it with a 12 inch piece of new fuel line and all was good.
Take a look at that and you can eliminate that at least, if it isnt the problem.
BTW, the hose is almost half hidden behind the fuel filter.
Good luck on finding the issue.Dan
