We pulled both out together and separated them after. The starter might be what's still holding it together.

Speedo cable, ground wire, fluid lines to rad, mounts on crossmember, I forget the wiring though. Just start pulling, you'll find out. Lol

Not sure if there's room to pull it with the torque converter still attached , but i would pull them both together as suggested above.
Ive never messed with the autos but the manuals have a small bracket on the sides from the trans to the block.
also do you have the down pipe pulled?

Its alot easier to pull them together. but if your stuck on wanting only the engine to come out, make sure you pull the access plate off the bellhousing from underneith and take the bolts out that hold the flexplate to the torque convertor.

You more than likely have bolts on the underside, 'tween the engine and trans.

IMHO, you are making more work for yourself than needed. It's been a few years ago so I don't remember all the details but I pulled just the engine on my '89 with an automatic.

IF I remember right, I didn't even pull the radiator. But, since you've already cut the lines, it's a mute point.

Check underneath for addition bolts/nuts that are holding the engine to the trans.
Remove inspection cover (sheet metal) to remove fasteners for the torque converter. I think there are 4 fasteners for the converter/flexplate mating.
Push converter back (over) towards trans.
                  Support trans.
                  Disconnect wiring and fuel lines.
                  Disconnect downpipe.
REMOVE complete passenger side upper motor mount. 1 thru bolt and 3 nuts.
Pull engine slightly towards passenger side and up.

There MAY be some things I forgot, but that's the basics of it. No need to remove the whole engine/trans combo.

                  Hope this helps.
