I went to Miami U. to visit a friend. On my way back, my '93GL ATX with B6 swap seemed to run strange for a moment. Later, when I stopped at a stop sign, she wouldn't start and stay running. I had to give her gas upon starting and peel out to get going. Then the "check engine" light came on! It later went off on it's own.
(Of all the 420 some miles to Ohiostiva and back, there was no problem. Then four days later, this problem!)
While driving, I noticed she was running very loud out the exhaust and a bit rough. When I stopped at a store to check her out better, and look at the map, I got out and moved the long 323 airbox around a bit and made sure the plug & coil wires were attached solidly. She then started up fine and got me home to Columbus with no other problems.
Last night, I stopped for a light at OSU and she quit on me refusing to restart for about five to ten minutes. Sometimes upon starting, she would barely run, but when I gave her gas, she'd stall.
This went on for several minutes, with me getting out and rearranging the airbox to no avail. Then I put her in "park" and tried starting. She started.
I'm thinking the airbox may need to be level to work best, and when I had it canted at a strange angle, maybe this occasionally makes things go haywire??
Any ideas? Could I be right about the airbox? I'm thinking it's either fuel delivery or air/fuel VAF mixture wiring problems. It's been four months since my B6 swap and these are the first real running problems I've had.
This morning I levelled out the airbox like it was right after I did my swap. I'll post any other problems. Ran fine this morning! Also, I had just put in new Bosch plugs, wires, and cap & rotor the day before Ohiostiva.
