  • Fuel Gauge Issue

    Hi guys,

I have an issue with fuel gauge and was wondering if someone could help me..

Firstly, the Fuel Gauge.. I was changing over some dash lights in my console and i have knocked the Fuel Gauge out of whack.. i have tried fixing this myself to no avail as everytime i have had the needle set for the limit to be at full, it goes right past empty and vice versa.. there isn't any issue with the float and i know the problem to be directly related to the gauge, however i can't fix it and it's quite problematic as i travel a long way and not confidently knowing how much fuel you have is quite the drama, especially when the drive consists of long spaces between petrol stations.

Basically i want to be able to calibrate it so that i can have the full on full and empty on empty or as close to empty so it gives me some warning so i can just pull in and get fuelled up. It would be rather nice to know that i have 5-10 litres left and the fuel light comes up so i'm in the mind of "do i really need fuel now?"

    Can anyone help?

    Also, Thanks in advance.

Easiest way to calibrate the gauge to show "empty" when its empty is to unplug everything (gauge will drop all the way to its lowest point) then adjust the needle to sit wherever you want it when the car is dead empty. Then just don't worry about it so much when its full, sometimes these gauges will read a little past full when its topped off, but the main thing you want to know is when you are running low of fuel, so setting the lower end of the gauge sweep is most important.
    No festiva for me ATM...

ok. is there a way to calibrate it as when it hits full, it lies flat with the dash which is just a touch of a concern considering lol
