  • Weird thing happened with my Pathfinder

I drove it from Atlanta to Savannah on Sunday. No problems at all. Monday morning the battery was COMPLETELY dead. Nothing was left on. Charged the battery and drove it some yesterday and everything seemed fine. It started up fine this morning. Any idea what might have caused this?

Battery might have an intermittent issue. I'd carry some jumper cables.

Use an old fashioned test light and see if it will light up
when put between the terminal and the battery post.

May just need to clean connections..

the lighter has a bad issue with doing that. disconnect the fuse and see if it stops.

If no one from the future stops you from doing it, how bad of a decision can it really be?

Sorry, wasn't sure if the repair help was for Festiva only. Thanks!

I did have a radar detector plugged into the lighter, but it turns off when the car is turned off. Think that was it?

no, if the detector turns off, the cig lighter is a switched power point. look a the terminals as suggested. you can also remove the positive terminal and place your test light between the terminal and battery post. if there's a strong glow, you have a draw and you needt to start puling fuses to find the circuit. if it's a weak glow, it's likely CPU and radio memory power.

OK, I'm still having turn signal issues with this thing. I have it posted on a Pathfinder forum, but it doesn't seem to get too much traffic through it. I'm just going to copy and paste what I've typed in the other forum explaining everything. Someone help!

OK, here are some more things it started doing. The left turn signal blinks slowly or not at all when pressing the brake pedal. It works fine when off the brake. And the right turn signal is not affected. ABS light turns on and off, wipers only wipe at a high speed on any setting and it shifts in and out of overdrive without pressing the button....

OK, the dying problem was a bad battery. I put a nice new one in it, but I'm still having the issue with my turn signal. Like I said before, it blinks fine until I hit the brake pedal. Then it blinks fast. I noticed when the turn signal is blinking normally (not on brakes) one of the filaments in the brake light bulb glows. Also, when I'm pressing the brake and its blinking fast, I hear a buzzing noise for every time it lights up. I've traced this buzzing noise and its coming from somewhere around the transmission. What could this be?!

I replaced all the bulbs in the back. Brake, reverse, turn signal and tag bulbs are all new and are the numbers they are supposed to be.

Still having this turn signal problem. I saw my wife back it out of the garage and with brake pressed and put into reverse the front drivers side turn signal lights up. Also, when running cruise on highway, if I signal left to get into the left lane, the transmission shifts oddly.....also all the lights at the bottom of the dash will come on and go off (ABS, Battery ETC). This is starting to scare me.

I noticed the black box part of the towing wiring harness is kinda crappy looking. I was wondering about this! What do I do with it? Can I take it off completely or where all is it attached?

Looks like you have turn signal switch issues with your Nissan. I'd suggest park it and drive the Festiva. Look in your service manual for the common ground connecting all the systems affected. Take the Festiva for peace of mind. The only way the RF Turn signal can light from brakes being applied is a bad turn signal switch or something floating around on the contacts. How are the turn signals on the Festiva, they work don't they? The buzzing may be the brake interlock solenoid getting low voltage because of a high resistance ground. You really need a manual. The Festiva manual is about $20. I don't know about Pathfinder.

The turn signal problem is a bad ground circuit at the light, check the rear first.
The problem is usually in the socket.
                        Find this ground problem first.

The wiper problem may be the wiper switch
test it or try a known good one.

After the above is fixed recheck the rest, some may be fixed as well.
