Rear mounts

Does any one know how the rear suspencion fastens to the body? Is it just welded to the sheet metal or is there a bracket inside of the sheet metal its fastened to? I have rust around the fastener to the body and dont know if it fastened inside or whether I am about to lose the rear end? anyone ever have this problem?

Never removed a beam but it looks like two or three bolts that screw into a reinforced area. I am curious as to how one gets to other side for repair if necessary. From what I hear on this site if that area is rusty then the car is scrap.

There is a bracket that is spot welded to the floor pan. This bracket has the nuts welded onto it. Then this is all covered up by the rear seat step up panel. Meaning you cant access those nuts unless you cut out an access panel. Which isnt the hardest thing to do. If your Bolts are rusty and you want to remove them to swap beam or clean up rust. USE A TORCH,even a small MAP gas unit from the hardware store will save you a HUGE headache. Get the heads "Cherry" if you can. Let them cool,hit em with a little PB Blaster. Then start working them with a Ratchet. As soon as you get a gap between the Bolt head & the bracket. Start bathing the threads with pb blaster while you work the bolt back and forth. Show us good macro a pic of how bad the corrosion is. And we can help you decide what to do ok-
