  • Strange noise

Have a loud shreeking noise coming from front end of engine at idle. Took off v belt from alt and wpump and noise is still there. Anyone ever have an oil pump go bad?

May be your timing belt tensioner pulley. Those bearings make some noise when toasted.

You might be able to locate the noise using a home-made stethoscope. I use a 3' long piece of garden hose. A stick of wood pressed between the engine and the side of the head could also work.

Possibly timing belt alignment washer put on backwards but only if that area was tampered with recently.

The washer is the next thing to go on the crankshaft sprocket after the timing belt. It is slightly dished to prevent rubbing the belt. If it is backwards it will rub. This would be an immediate issue after timing belt replacement. It won't happen later.
