  • Check Engine Light??

Hi i'm a new owner of an 88 LX with carb and 5-speed. I have been wondering why my instrument panel doesn't have a check engine light, one doesn't light up when you turn on the key and I can't even see a place for one when looking at the face of the cluster, although I do see the oil, seatbelt, highbeams, etc. all the places that have labels do light up when the key is on. I have the cluster with a tach if that helps. Thanks

There should be a check engine light, the bulb is probably burned out. I actually had to trace a trouble code on a carbed festiva with a tach cluster, so I know they have one but I have had trouble with the bulbs not lighting up sometimes so I would check that.

i bet someone removed the bulb before you bought it

because it was on all of the time and it is kind of hard to sell a car with it on

        88LX check engine light

My 88LX has an orange check engine light, immediately to the right of the red seat belt light. It comes on as soon as I switch the ignition key to the "on" position.
