  • Smoke in the Corners???

    OK...

B3 (Sourced from a '97 aspire, and full rebuild) , never smoked. Ever. Passed Emissions last month no problem. No smoke on startup.

I took a freeway onramp, it was a full circle, gradually elevating, elevation change of 20' over the entire turn. Speed limit was 25mph. I took it at 50mph tires squealing with delight. As I got to the top of the on-ramp, and onto the flat I look in the back window and it's a TON of white smoke! LOTS! It only lasted about 10 seconds, and didn't come back.

What did I do? Any ideas?

    (the on-ramp in question)

I got $20.00 that says somebody flames you for your speed. I have no suggestion as to your problem though. Just wanted to point that out. Lol

I know, I was just saying, a few people on here can go a little overboard. Sorry for the thread drift.

One of my least-used cars collects oil at the low point of the intake tube from the VAF and air filter. Where it comes from is unknown but there is enough on occasion that a long and really sharp turn might move it further along and into the manifolds. Just a guess of course but you just might have a pocket of residual oil somewhere too.
Try that stunt again and look behind you once more.

More than likely the inside (to the curve) tire spinning/smoking, at least that's what is was when I did the same.

It wasn't tire smoke... It actually smelled like it was gas. Hmmm... Anybody else?

you rolled the oil away from the oil pickup tube in the pan.
I have buddies that road race, that actually overfill by a half a
quart because of that. The one guy drives a bmw and is a
                  champion.

If you would have done that with an 1/8 of a tank of gas, it would have tried to stall as well...ask me how I know.

ready to start leaking valve guide seals.....normally they are ok but as you went through the corner the oil pooled to one side under the valve cover and let it run down into those cylinders.
