    Trees aren't kind to me...

    currently: 2 88Ls (Scrappy and Jersey), 88LX, 90L(Pepe), 91L, 91GL (Skippy) 93 GL Sport (the Mighty Favakk), 94 (Bruce) & 95 Aspire SEs, 97 Aspire (The Joker),
    94 Justy 4WD, 87 Fiero GT, plus 2 parts cars. That's my fleet.

      It's dielectric heat transfer paste. Acts as a heat sink and an electical insolator.
      Original owner of silver grey carburetted 1989 Festiva. 105k km as of June 2006. 140k km as of June 2021.

        Drove it all night, no problemo. Came home, swapped in the other dizzy, no start. That was all it took!

        So, bad dizzy on donor motor, bad ICM before from original, what next?

        LOL! My 700K+ dizzy is running like a champ!

          Yeesh. I have been tired and sleepy from my first post, what, 24 hours ago? You guys are answering my original question, and it took me until now to figure it out.

          OK, so, short in ignition system can fry it, as well as lack of proper paste, which Artie pointed out to me in a previous thread. Also, I guess just age. Don is gonna come up with some links for wiring, and Artie is gonna walk around Baby Car next week and go "Scitzz, Double you tee eff? What is with all this red conduit?"

          Now, other than finding a McParts store to test it, I probably should start in my Haynes manual, and in my service manual for a test for it. I don't like swapping parts in, I want to diagnose the problem, dadgummit!
