  • What thread is the oil press port?

I need help installing an oil pressure gauge. I thought the port in the engine block was 1/8" NPT, because the sender unit will screw into an 1/8" NPT port...so I bought an 1/8" NPT tee fitting to allow me to hook up a gauge and still keep the oil light. However, it appers the the thread is actually metric or mybe British Pipe? Has anyone done this...and where did you get the fittings?

I believe it is metric pipe thread. Can anyone verify this?

To match threads I hold the old bolt or whatever against the new and see if the threads interlace.
If possible I take the old part to the store.

Try NAPA. I think that's where I got my adapter fitting although I've seen them online, too. There is one thread difference between the American 1/8" NPT and the hole in the B3 block. The American 1/8" NPT is 27 threads and the engine block is 28 threads. If you go to NAPA, ask them to look up an oil pressure sending unit for your Festiva. After they have the part number, ask if they have a catalog with a picture of the oil pressure switch. If they have the catalog, the picture of your switch should also give a description of the thread size. Tell them you need an adapter that is the same thread size as the switch and will adapt to a regular 1/8" NPT.
            You gonna race that thing?

Just pulled it up from NAPA, thread is 1/8" x 28 BSPT. So yes, British, and 28. Hope this helps
              No festiva for me ATM...

Thanks guys! I suspected it may be BSPT. I occasionlly run into it at work...mostly on european food processing equipment. The thread is slightly smaller on the OD. It will screw into NPT, but not vice-versa. I think I can order an adapter through work (we re an Aeroquip Distributor) now that I know what it is.
                Thanks to all!
