Does a 97 Protege have any good parts for my Festiva's?
I see a tired looking one just sitting, waiting for some love.
I wonder if that 5 speed trans is a good one.

My 323/Protege Haynes manual covers 1990-97 with the usual B motors. Except they're OBD2 from '95 on.

      Correction: '95 and later shows a Z5 1.5L DOHC.

I think so, the sticker says 90.5 cubes which is a 1.5 litre.
Is that a good Festiva engine?
Does anyone know what manual trans that is?

My manual only shows one manual trans. I believe it is an F unit. It should have a removable end cover.

It appears to be a non-interference motor but probably non swappable due to being OBD2.

Thanks georgeb! I should pick it up just for the trans.
If I can get it for nothing something good must happen.
I must profess ignorance, whats OBD2? does that mean the ignition won't work in a Festiva?

It means the wiring is more complicated and not worth trying to adapt to an OBD1 car.

                  Thanks again!
I'll figure out something fun to do with it.
