  • installing electric mirrors

    hi guys,

I need a little guidance as to where i would find the plugs i need to plug my electric mirrors into..

i have read through here and to me it seems a little confusing as to me, there seems to be no plugs that are located within the car.

basically, i'm needing photos of the plugs and wire colours to confirm what they look like as i have tried looking under the dash for all that i need and nothing seems to be there.

Am i just looking in the wrong spots or what?

here is the manual, please help.

    thanksyou.

I don't know if Australian Festivas have an identical wiring harness. The pigtails for the mirrors may be missing in the doors. In Canada, only Festivas with electric mirrors had the pigtails in the doors. Mazda Protege door mirror pigtails are almost identical to Festiva pigtails. They are just slightly longer. The mirror control switch connector is part of the dash wiring harness and should be located directly behind the large square switch place holder.

if they are run from the switch...you would know by pulling out the blank and then finding the plug hiding behind it....then they should be in the doors. Pop the panel off a little ways down inside the door close to the hole for the speaker....there is a plug end (probably attached with a fastener) that you can grab and pull up into place...high enough to plug the mirror in. There are actually little wire and plug extensions that are found on the cars that came with the power mirrors but you do not need them to hook the mirrors up.
