  • New rotors without bearings?

I think I may have been mis-informed. There is nothing wrong that I know of with my front bearings, however, my rotors are pretty warn out. I have new rotors. Do I have to replace the bearings/have them pressed to replace the rotors?

If its Festiva then the hub has to disassembled to replace the rotors.

If its Aspire then the rotor can be replaced without disassembling the hub.

So in order to do the rotors, I have to take the entire knuckle off anyway, so I might as well replace the rotors then. And I might as well wait to do all of this, when I do my new front shocks?

You can replace the rotors, without replacing the bearings. Most of us just do it all-at-once. If your bearings are good, then go for it.

It falls into the "while-you're-in-there" category.

          Cheers,

There was an option 1/2 decade ago (at NAPA in Canada) to buy Festy rotors alone or with so-called matched hubs with already pressed-in bearing races. The price difference was substantial so I never went for it at the time. In hindsight I can now see why it was offered. When else is a Festy front hub removed from the car just for the helluvit.
