O2 sensor issue

So my o2 sensor cable broke I required it but my check engine light goes off 10 min down the road. It steal runs but I just don't like that light on. Do I need a new o2 sensor or reworking it should've worked fine.

Where did the single wire break?
If you have sufficient wire to reconnect it do so.
Solder the connection then route the wire away from the heat of the exhaust manifold.
If you need to replace, make sure to get the Denso O2 sensor, NOT the Bosch.

I wired nutted it together for now but CE light still goes off. Oh we'll I will just take that bulb out lol.

If you have a digital volt meter you could check the signal is within spec. Voltage too high or low is what turns on the check engine light. Would indicate poor splice or malfuntioning sensor.

Just buy a NEW Denso O2 sensor. They are cheap & easy to replace, remember to use anti-seize.

What exactly is wrong with the Bosch sensor?

I ask this because there was one on my car when I bought it, and it is still on there.
Seems to run fine, though I do have a horrid exhaust stench.

The exhaust smell is pretty terrible if I sit idling in one place for a while, no smoke, and doesn't smell like sulfur.

The smell is hard to describe unfortunately but I know it is almost bad enough to make your eyes water.

no catalytic converter will smell like rotten eggs...especially sitting still when the smell permeates into the cab.

Nah, doesn't smell like rotten eggs either.

More of a chemical kinda smell, almost like fuel. Closest thing I found while doing some research was that it could be running rich. Which is why I am asking about the O2 sensor.

Will order a Denso sensor here soon and see if the exhaust smell goes away, if it doesn't well then I guess it is just a bad cat.

For CEL issue: Ground STI connector and count the blinks to see if it is the O2 or something else.

Sure you don't have a plastic shopping bag stuck to your exhaust? I've seen that happen dozens of times and it will produce a horrible smell...
