Problems with 88 Festiva LX carb engine

I have Ford Festiva 1988 LX Manual 5 SPD with carb engine, I tried try start up but must holding gas open a bit and it cannot running itself as idle. If I let my foot off the gas it dies. I did try adj the Idle knob under the pan intake but nothing better.

I wonder if it possible remove crab intake manifold and replace with EFI intake manifold?

Have you tried spraying with carburettor cleaner? Inside and out.
I'm not very good at diagnosing carburettor problems but I'd look at the vacuum hoses, automatic choke, and fuel pump before tackling the carburettor itself.

Sorry I don't know anything about converting to fuel injection. They make quite a few changes when they did that at the factory, eg air intake, computer, etc.

Damn runt kids from my neighbor, they did put the yellow foam filling in Festiva's muffler pipe! last night I and my friend have hard time to get start with carb problem so my friend spray down whole the can "starter fuild" into carb intake good enough it blew up the pipe and backfire out the carb...a quite almost got big fire out the muffler, lucky I have garden water hose nearby to put fire out quicky.

Now I know why my carb festiva wont started...due blocking air going out pipe muffler. Also a lesson for me better take a check pipe muffler before start the engine...

It's a wonder your motor still has the head attatched .
Wow what a way to prank your neighbor,.........Fill his exhaust with expandable foam . I would be calling them more than Runt kids :lol:
And I would make them pay for the damages done
