Need to replace the blower motor?

ive got an 88 l, and the blower motor used to work only on 2, this summer it quit working completely. im assuming the motor is shot and needs to be replaced, which brings me to my next question where is it located? last time i replaced one was in a 2000 Grand Prix and it was under the dash on the passenger side, but i dont think thats the case with the festiva.also any ideas where the best place to find a motor would be? or better yet anyone got one in working condition layin around? thanks guys

It's most likely your blower motor resistor. It should be screwed into the blower housing (to cool it while it blocks current to the blower motor). The blower is behind the heater controls, up under the dash.

If it only works on HIGH then it's the blower resistor. Both components are under the middle of the dash accessible from the driver's side. Be careful not to remove the phillips screw near the resistor or a plate will fall necessitating dash removal!

it never worked on high, only on the second speed. also if its important the car does not have a/c.

Here is a pic. You can see the "blower motor" I put the camera on the brake pedal. The resistor is above the blower motor to right. Sorry it's a cell phone pic. You can see the plug for the blower goes in from the top, and the resistor plug has a tab on top you have to "squeeze" to get it unplugged

Messed up Wiring?

I pulled the blower motor out today and this is the wiring i found... lots of cut wires and tape... im guessing they tried fixing it before and messed it all up.
