  • aspire front mount. am I crazy? are they crazy?

So I am trying to replace front motor mount on my 96 aspire manual. advanced/oreilly do not have this part so I have to shop online
my first try was amazon - they sell Dea A5204, say it is for aspire. Got the mount - it looks wrong, it is higher & the distance between the bolts is off by half an inch. It was labeled 8914 KK391-39-050, google says it is for some kia.

Fine, amazon does great job with returns, I buy another one on eBay. this one is more or less same height, but - again - wrong bold spacing. This one says mdx74-39-050 on the rubber, again kia if you google it.

On my car the bolts (centers) are 1 7/8 apart and what they are sending me is 2 3/8 inches apart. Are these mounts for aspire auto by any chance?

By the way, I do not see any rear mounts for sale

He meant to say 3M brand "window weld" It's the urethane glue that holds windshields in.
Some tend to think of it as...the artificial implants of motor mounts, or even mount enhancement surgery.
          Yeah, makes em extra perky

If this a long term restoration new parts are great but if it's just a daily driver the auto wreckers are way cheaper! It's too bad; I had 2 of these kicking around for awhile (until 4 months ago) looking for a home and I ultimately threw them out.
Can you drill out or slot the crossmember holes in order to accommodate the wider spacing perhaps?

I wouldn't recommend doing it that way, just because of the torque focused on that area. However, if he made a plate with the holes in the new locations and drilled through the crossmember in the same new locations, he could then use the old bolt holes as spot weld points on the underside of the plate, and then spot weld the plate at all 4 corners and once on either side of the long end to give even better strength than stock.

By the way, that Aspire mount looks just like a Festiva mount. Is that the case?

Nope, different mounts between manual aspire and manual festiva. On the festiva mount the bolts are even closer.

It's getting colder in Chicago and I was really hoping to not fabricate anything, just do an easy swap I guess I will try rockauto.

Rockauto sells the same DEA, same A5204. Something tells me that would be the same wrong mount

Thanks. I had a hunch he meant window weld However, I had no clue that it was a good replacement. I need to look into that! FWIW, I have always used something else, called it dum dum....for windows, that is.

Update: I think I have the whole thing resolved:

I believe the catalog is wrong and 5204 is in fact a mount for automatic transmission (catalog says it's for standard)
The right mount for manual/standard is 5203 (application is not specified in the application).

Now I need to figure out which side of it is the front - this mount is not exactly symmetrical, the hole is not in the middle of the large round thingy, I guess I'll just see which way it would go in
