Yea it's bearings !!! I have had no play at all in front before and bearings are shot , long gone ! I have had bald tires to the best snow ruff tread tires I could find , no tire noise at all ! Raise the car and spin the wheel with your hand on the lower control you will feel the rumble!!!!!
New build on the way .

Honestly i did that, rolling the wheel by hand and there wasno grind no hum, even blocked the car side by side and got up to 70mph in the air no hum or roar. i may just be over reacting i just dont know. but eventually i will replace the bearings reguardless of wear or not in the future after i get a job

        Its your tires....
Mine is doing the same thing...plus a little shimmy. Pay attention to the surface of the road you are on. Get keen on feeling "road-feedback" from this car. Man The festivas really "Talk to you" through road-feedback. Its pretty awesome being able to feel almost every inch of the car through pedal feel and steering wheel!!! (anyone able to do this?)
you might try deflating them just a smidgen, or inflating see which one gives better results.

Granted I know my bearings need replaced because I can feel them kinda "grind" through feedback.
How hard is it to replace bearings? anyone got pics of the process?

did you check the rear bearings? I swore up and down I had bad front bearings in one of my aspires. I replaced both sides up front and it was still just as bad. Changed the back and it was quiet as can be. I always do the backs first now.

                Re: tire roar?

                Ever get this figured out?

I have a similar issue. I was thinking alignment so I played with mine a bit. After turning both tie rod ends out 1 turn each, it seems to have gone away. Won't know for sure until I hit the new tarmac on the way to work tomorrow.

Just new grease in all wheel bearings can help a bunch.
Tires rated for quiet really do help actual tire noise, and proper
pressure, perfect balance are like dinner with benefits!

The road itself makes a huge difference in noise. Drive on sand
and you will know what I mean.

                    Re: tire roar?

My quick adjustment helped. Still noticed noise from right rear so I am taking it to the shop in the a.m.

                    Have you had yours aligned?
