Holy crap thanks for this tip I just called my O'Reilly's & the have it minus the gasket for $8.50! This is after I drove all the way to Mazda for the $20.00 dollar oem unit(for my engine thats still on the engine stand). I just bought another Aspire and its got zero heat,I'm off to O'Rielly's. One rep coming up!

Nitro, make sure it has two mechanisms like the one on the left below:

If it looks like the one on the right, it's single stage.

If your O'Reilly's t-stat is the proper two stage one, let us know the part number. That price is amazing!

What brand is it? I've had some bad luck with cheap off brand t-stats.

$8.99 its 192 deg. they also had an alternate 180 deg but its single element for summer time use (it looks like a reg thermostate with the air bleeder).

Nitro, where is it made? Looks like "Israel" to me, but the pic ain't clear.

No matter I suppose. I'll pick one up anyway to compare with the Motrocraft part, which is made in Japan.

I went and picked t-stat part #41492 up from O'Reilly's just now, along with a ~$22 5 qt. oil + filter deal (filling the rebate out tonight) for a ten dollar gift card.

When I pick up my Motorcraft t-stats from Ricart later this week, I'll compare them side by side to see if I can tell any visual quality differences.

I Literally JUST came back from a run to get parts. I got the same thermostat + gasket that you guys posted. Plus I went and got some cascade and some name brand coolant/ antifreeze. I held off on the oil. I used the part number that was posted here. It IS the mazda 323 thermo. Im eating sushi right now, while the car is draining. Ill post results in about an HR. Oh Safetyguy: Thanks for linking me to your thread with the thermostat procedure. Again, I am over thinking things waaaay to much..
