  • Took apart airflow meter (w/ pic)

I have a bad habit of taking things apart that I really shouldn't

I actually ripped out the connector block trying to remove it so 3 of the connections had to be resoldered.

I was pretty worried after putting things back together. The car wasn't running very well. I pulled the battery for a minute or two but still no luck. It was fluctuating high/low at idle and would get so low it would almost die (and did several times) especially after revving.

i tried re-adjusting the spring tension for the metering device and somehow it seemed to work because the car was now idleing well. It drops a little below normal idle after I rev it but that may be normal.

Anyone know how to adjust these things? is it a really precise adjustment or is close enough OK?

the reason I took it apart is because I have a lull following my upshifts and someone suggested it might be the VAF.
