Fuel in the vacuum lines?

Ok, so some of you may teem bet me buying an escort carb off of a member here. I put it on and it was pouring fuel everywhere. It was even dumping it into the vac lines. So I took that one off and put the original one back on it with all the vac lines plugged because I removed all the emissions bs. Still fuel in vac lines! What's going on? The car won't do over 35 mph and is spraying fuel into the vac advance disty. Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

How much fuel pressure do you have? Are you overriding the float?

Fuel pressure was within range last I checked and not overriding anything but emissions control.

The float level has to be checked to make sure it's not overfilling.
Do you have a sight glass on your carb?

Put a pressure gauge on the end of the fuel line going to the carb. Don't use a "T" fitting. Basically use the pressure gauge as a plug for the fuel line. Start the car. There should be enough gas in the carb for it to run long enough to get a reading. The pressure should be about 3 or 4 pounds and not continue any higher. Pumping gas out like you describe, the pressure is way too high or there is something wrong with the float valve. If you have taken the carb apart, there's a chance you may have lost the needle from the float valve.

You didn't cap off the fuel return line did you?

Do you happen to have a pic of the fuel return line? If youre talking about the other line from the pump, no I didnt cap that off.

What brave said, see if you can see fuel in sight glass.
And/Or crank engine and see if fuel is puddled on top of throttle
plate , open choke plate and look down with flashlight.
