  • Car Accident subframe bent

On the first morning of 2013 I crashed my car into a tree, I have a BP with the festiva trans, and just got a new paint job. the whole front got smashed but it didnt hit the motor only bent the o2 sensor, bent the bumper and radiator support and the frame rail on the drivers side. Is this fixable? thanks and could there be any internal damage to the engine?

Anything is fixable, hard to say how easy or hard without pictures.. The core support would be easy to pull back, rest may mostly pull out also. Have any friends who are bodymen who could look at it, and possibly put it on a frame machine to pull out the damage?

Alright thanks, just wanted to check because someone told me that once you bend the frame rail it is totaled. And do you think there could have been any engine damage? and how could I check that?

Depending on how bad it's bent a good body shop can pull a frame straight.

Pretty much anything will total a festiva due to their low value, but totalled and nonrepairable are 2 different things. On a side note just because a frame is bent does not mean it is totaled but it has higher chance of being totaled due to the higher risk of more severe damage elsewhere. Pictures would help alot but chances are once you start getting qoutes you will probably be discouraged from fixing it, unless you can do the bodywork and paint yourself (leaving just the frame pull to someone else)

            Two choices:

            1) Pull it out, cut out bad pieces, weld in new ones.

            2) Import a fun top Mazda 121 from Australia with a sport interior, and stick on a right hand drive bumper sticker. Store the parts car somewhere.

I know which option I would choose if I lived in Hawaii.

I've been there I know how you feel. Honestly this was my first impact repair and it wasn't too bad.

I think at least it came out alright.

Ouch! For the price of all the work plus replacement parts...import a fun top or a Shades. You won't regret it.

Your guys cars came out great! Mines alittle worse than those, like bent the support in half and radiator broke. bumper was hammered and crossmember was touching the ground. Wish I had pics of it but I was to sick of looking at it. bummed me out hard haha. Ill try and get a pic of it but its all taking apart already and brought the smashed pieces to the dump. Anyone selling a good non rusty radiator support and bumper support?
