  • Probe-5 speed

Oh my, I see a nice looking V-6 Probe on its way to the shredder!
Is that 5 speed trans the same as an Escort GT? It looks like it.
If so I should try and save the poor thing.
When I slow down I must research Probes.

There's a probe motor in a Festiva owned by a member on here. Not sure which transmission he used. Oh, his name is damkid

It comes from the same family of trans as the Escort GT, but the bellhousing is different to accept the V6 block. So that trans would only be usable with the V6, and to get axles that would work in a festiva you would need to open it up, swap a Escort GT differential onto the ring gear, then reassemble. And thats assuming that its the 2.5 Mazda V6 (in the 2nd gen probes) and not the 3.0L Vulcan found in the earlier Probes.

Well is it a first or second gen probe?

            If it's a 3 liter, it's first gen.
