  • Heater blower resistor

My heater blower works only in two different speed, I know the resistor on broken.
I have found that we have two different type resistors here for sale, and those aren't right for me.

There are two connection in resistor, 4 wires and 1 wire.

Can someone take picture from festys resistor? And does festys have 3- or 4-speed blower control?

I used search and founded this picture, wich gives Kia part number:
    http://bwbronze.com/festiva/resistor.jpg

It looks it has same "problem" that I founded with the second resistor that I bought. It doesn't have straight line from 2-pinned socket to 4-pinned socket, so I'm guessing it's also 3-speed blower?

Here's picture of my resistor vs. new (witch is wrong)

And I have -89 Mazda 121, and it has 4-speed blower..
Hi! Do you wanna ride with me? I have red cabrio, it has the biggest engine what was available when the car was new. It also has about every possible accessories what was available then.

All three of my 92-93 Festivas have 3 speed fans. Usually when a resistor blows there is only a single speed (high) that remains, at least that's my experience with Ford trucks.

      Thanks for info!

I've already tested with that new, but it's only for three speeds, so it's confirmed that the resistor is blown.
But festys resistor isn't right for me..

Hmm, not sure what you didn't get? But my mazda's blower has 4 speeds, only speeds 3 and 4 works. Resistor is blown..
I have tested two other resistors, first did work fine, except it didn't fit to it's place (was to big). And the second wire socket was wrong, but was usable by extra wire, and all 4 speeds did work.

Then I tested second resistor, wich will fit in place and both the sockets will also fit. But it has only 3 speeds..

I took pictures from my orginal resistor and the second new one, I should have taken also from the socket side, so you could see the sockets..

But you actually gave me idea with that link, I have to go tomorrow the check the 323 BF resistor, if it would be usable.

Or, will the resistor get how hot? If I use the first one, wich doesn't fit in place, and leave it outside of blower?

This a 'new game' for me. Surely there are wrecking yards nearby you or automotive parts stores that have exactly what you want. I am guessing that Fords, Mazdas and Kias of about the same age would have the same parts. I do know that in the lifetime of my 1986 F150 that I've had to replace the blower resistor twice already, and that I knew the resistor was 'blown' when the fan only had one speed setting; high. Good luck my friend.

Finland is a crappy land, if you compare our wrecking yards to you guys -> we don't have them..
We never had Ford Festiva here, and basically all of our Fords are different than yours. So no interchangable parts from there.
And also no for Kia Pride, never has seen those here, only one sale add in biggest Finnish internet based carsale site. And that car was imported.
DA chassis hasn't been popular when it was new, so basically not any second hnd parts available, my guess is that best parts source is ebay.de, and official Mazda dealer.

But in this case, this resistor is aprox 12€, not orginal and aprox 70€ for orginal...

And I payd 300€ for the car, so I'll try to be budgetwise in these kind of things.
