I drove my mother's 74 Chevy Vega with 4 speed manual for many years (75-82) and was donated a 4 speed manual 75 Pinto (headed for the scrap yard in 1980 but drove and ran fine). Both were domestic econo cars but the Pinto was far superior, in my opinion. More room inside, rack & pinion steering, way better engine and an overall better ride. We're talking 35 years ago but it did convince me to switch to Fords and I've never owned a GM since. Matter of fact when the 75 Pinto died (1984) I bought an all-glass hatchback 4 speed 80 Pinto! I ultimately wound up moving it along to somebody else in 1992 not because it was ruined but because I had a Ford truck and my wife hated manual (Arm-strong) steering and lusted over Japanese cars.
