I been seeing this oil spot grow under festdiva. It was about to make me sick since I just put the engine in and got it running perfect. Changed several gaskets in the process and knew it was going to be the oil pan gasket since its the hardest to deal with. But hey I must be living right, the leak is coming from the oil pressure sending unit. Easy fix, how often does that happen? Just need a few answers. The manual says to attach Teflon tape. 1. Is this the same Teflon tape used in household plumping or some high temp variety? 2. Would the red high temp silicon work just as good? 3. Can the sending unit its self leak? Ive got the unit out now if anyone has the quick answers. Thanks !!

Just regular silcone tape. Make sure it isn't the valve cover right above the sending unit.
And yes some sending units can leak. I had a corsica and the sender failed and the oil was pouring right out of the plug. The electrical plug was all that was holding the oil in. Chevy's suck.

Thanks matt, you're the man. I think the unit is leaking. Ill drop a ten spot on a new one and reinstall. New valve cover gasket is holding tight, no oil leaking above the sending unit. I'm so glad its not something else !! I should have checked it out a week ago but didn't want to look. :cheers:sigpic
