  • Ignition Control Module Location

I've been searching the repair forum and the internet regarding an Ignition Control Module and see conflicting answers. I want to know where it is located on my 93 Festy but some say there isn't one and is just part of the distributor, but I see you can buy them on rock auto and other sites. I'm having a no spark issue and this is the next thing I would like to check/replace if necessary. Thanks!

the ICM is located on a bracket next to the ignition coil. 3 wires lead into it. it is a common fail point and MANY mazda engines of the same generation use the same unit.

Are you talking about this? I was going to pull it with the coil I got at the JY the other day but the screws were stripped. I guess I'll be going back with more tools.

Thanks, I found another Festy I really want so I've decided on putting this one up for sale. If I still have it this weekend I'm still going to PNP to grab the one off the Festy if it's still there.

it comes from MANY B series engine bays... a butt load of mazda products use that ICM so it doesn;t have to come from a festy

Protege through '94, 323 through '94, EGT through '96, MPVs through '96, EFI Mazda B2000/B2200 trucks, MX6/626 through '92, not sure about the later ones but probably those too. Also, when you attempt to remove it there is a tiny (maybe 7mm) nut on the bottom of those screws that hold it. So if it feels like the screw is just spinning and spinning and not loosening just reach your finger up underneath the bracket to hold that nut from spinning and it should come right out!

Thanks, I decided to put my 93 up for sale but will visit pnp this weekend and grab a couple. The cheapest I've found them on the internet is around $30 and there less than $10 at pnp.
